New Years Eve Masquerade Ball in New Orleans

At the end of the month, Jason and I are heading to New Orleans to attend the Burlesque Press Hands on Literary Festival Masquerade Ball on New Years Eve. I am so thoroughly excited to attend this event, not only for the masquerade ball, but also to see my friends and professors from graduate school. It is the rare occasion that we are all able to get together and I am so proud of Jeni Stewart, the Director of Burlesque Press, for all of her hard work in creating this awesome conference and writing community. The holiday season is well under way and we are in full swing of attending parties galore. Although all of our festivities have been and will be a joy to attend (we have been invited to a Winter Solstice party on Saturday, which I am very much looking forward to), I must say that I can’t wait until our New Orleans trip. Jason and I haven’t really taken a vacation this year and I know he really needs the relaxation time! And so do I after the exciting, but hectic novel-writing November that I had. (Two cheers for the completed rough draft of The Nalla Gypsy!)

December is all about celebration this year. For me, I accomplished a big writing goal of completing another novel. Jason has been crazy busy at work and outside of work in equal measure, but has been rewarded for his herculean efforts with the following award:

ENR (Engineering News Reports) Midwest named Jason one of the region’s Top 20 Under 40, an annual program that honors young design and construction professionals on the basis of their contributions to their firms, profession and communities

In addition to all of these wonderful things going on in our lives, our wedding anniversary is on the 27th of December and we will be married 15 years this year!
