I wrote the rough draft of my novel, The Nalla Gypsy in 30 days! I am officially a National Novel Writing Month winner with 50,053 words for my novel. Jason took me out to dinner last night to celebrate. We went with my best friend, Erinn, and her fiancé, Ryan, who are in town this weekend for Thanksgiving. I was so excited to celebrate with all three of them! I can’t express my excitement for achieving my goal. The accomplishment is absolutely delicious.
It is all the more sweet because there was one point earlier in the week where I thought I wasn’t going to make it, even after I had come so far. I had one day of zero words. But my ever supportive husband, Jason, called me back down off the giving up ledge and cheered me on to the finish line. I stayed up late and got up early. I wrote before Thanksgiving dinner and after my family all left. I wrote at my in-laws house while trading off visiting with family and getting my word count in. I wrote and wrote.
I called my Mom yesterday to tell her that I finished. She asked me if I was burned out now and I said absolutely not! Granted, I’m taking today off; I’m not doing anything except relaxing. But after that, I’m going to get back to work—editing, revising, reworking. The Nalla Gypsy is by no means finished at 50K words. I have many more ideas that I got while I was writing that I want to incorporate while I’m revising the novel. I can’t wait to share The Nalla Gypsy with you in the new year!
