I live, eat and breathe writing. My last two novels, I wrote the rough drafts in 30 days and I loved every single solitary minute of it, even the challenging parts. It’s all indicative of the writing process. Everything that I see, hear, taste, touch, and smell is something that I can use in my writing. Everything I experience, everything I read, everything I overhear–that’s all fodder for my imagination to take flight. And it does! My imagination is an eagle, soaring to the greatest heights.
Welcome to my imagination.

To create impactful stories with fictional characters that live, breathe and leap off the page. To create worlds that draw the reader in and make you want to stay. To create unique, engaging stories that captivate, entertain and linger in the reader’s memory long after you have gone on to other things.
Empyrean, a noun, is the highest heaven, thought by the ancients to contain the pure element of fire. When I write, I take my thoughts to a higher level of consciousness, a higher plane, so the act of putting words on paper becomes an empyreal act. So, writing, for me, is a state of elevated consciousness.
What about the fire that shoots from my pen when I rip through that scene where Chava hunkers down in her apartment, terrified into immobility? What about the fire that seared through my fingers as I typed out the last scene of Nora standing on her hotel balcony, the ocean breeze whipping through her skirts, certain of her fate? Yes, fire has been my companion on many a writing escapade. It is the heat, the drive, the will to succeed. My motivation is a light that guides me along the way. It is what makes me sit down at my computer or go to a coffee shop to write.
Imagination: It is what gives me the will to persevere through the negative thoughts swirling around in my head about my work, my writing and anything that would stop me from putting pen to paper. But more than that, this empyrean fire is the essence of my creative juice, flowing through my body, inoculating my mind with a treasure trove of ideas and stamina for the next go round.
I write in a state of elevated consciousness, write with a deep fire burning inside that explodes out of me like a torrent every time I sit at my writing desk. I’ve learned to appreciate this creative heat that emanates through me onto the page. I am creating something no one else can create–something from my very own imagination, my creative center, my empyrean consciousness.
